Should We Rebuild?

I wrote my rhetorical analysis on "Should We Rebuild", a speech that was given by Kathleen Blanco, governor of Louisiana. She gave the speech to the Louisiana State Legislature on September 14, 2005, on C-SPAN. The purpose of her speech was due to the fact that she wanted to ensure that Louisiana would get the same amount of help, as well as government funding, to rebuild after Hurricane Katrina. Blanco stated, "Americans rebuilt Washington after the British burned it to the ground. We rebuilt Chicago after the great fire. We rebuilt San Francisco after the earthquake. And we are rebuilding New York City after 9/11." She begins and ends her speech with being nothing but thankful for all of the help that Louisiana and its families have received. This speech caught my attention because I have always been interested in Hurricane Katrina and how amazing it is that so many people joined together to help give back to the state of Louisiana. I never really enjoy listening to long speeches, but Kathleen Blanco's speech was nothing short of encouraging and inspirational.
