Presentation Matters

In chapter nine it starts off by quoting President Barack Obama when he is delivering his argument at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. “There‘s not a liberal America and a conservative America; there‘s the United States of America There‘s not a black America and white America and Latino America and Asian America; there‘s the United States of America” This chapter talks about another way to present your argument, by delivering it in front of an audience. When giving a speech you have to make sure that you wear the appropriate attire, words, expressions, and props. When practicing your presentation, if you have a time limit, always time your presentation for 2-3 minutes less than the time, because sometimes we speak more than we believe. There are many different ways that you can present your information such as, posters, PowerPoint’s, or web pages. Also while you are planning your presentation make sure you anticipate people asking questions about your presentation. Being prepared is the key to make your presentation come alive and for people to know that you know what you are talking about. Making a visual outline helps with this because you are placing pictures next to the important parts of your speech and this allows you to know when you will use visual rhetoric. Sometimes though when you’re trying to make your paper visual or present it, you might have to reorder some things so it appeals to the audience.
