Designing an Argument

Chapter 8 of Envision is about designing arguments. It talks about the different kinds of mediums you can use, and how to decide which one you should use. This is called a design strategy. The decisions you face for documenting is called decorum—this word is defined as appropriateness? What’s appropriate? I guess as the presenter you need to decide. Think of your audience and take into consideration what they would benefit the most out of.

Also, you want to incorporate visuals. There are a number of reasons why you would need to incorporate visuals. For example, say your topic is over hybrid cars—you would maybe want to incorporate a picture to show the differences in engines. But remember, your pictures need to have a purpose. So where do you put these pictures? Placement is in important key, also. It explains that you need to find a good place to put your pictures, that they need to serve a purpose, and that they will most likely show your interpretation of the analysis.
