Know What Your Saying.

There are many things to remember when giving a speech of any kind. Stand up straight enunciate well, speak loudly and with force, stay focused, be prepared and don’t stress out. But there are many more important aspects, one should know to give successful speeches on different issues and in different settings. First is called judicial or forensic discourse which is where you use past actions, verbal arguments, charts, graphs, photos and other visuals arranged and designed to persuade your audience. This type is commonly used in court attempting to persuade a jury or judge whether the defendant is guilty or not. The second is deliberative or legislative discourse. This is also a persuasion but different in that you are persuading for a personal goal such as: promoting the launch of a business, development of new software, or fundraising. You would use persuasive tools like a financial plan, power point slideshow, charts, images, prototypes, models, and possibly animations to support your goal. Lastly there is epideictic or ceremonial discourse. This is usually used for praise or blame. It can be used in a negative way as a scolding and why what happened was bad for example the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico many people publicly stated why what happened was wrong and who was to blame. It can be used in a way of praise for things that are good and successfully accomplished. An example is when President Barrack Obama praised those soldiers who successfully killed Osama Bin Laden. He gave special thanks to those who found where he was hiding and the amount of effort and work it took to bring down such a cruel and inhumane leader of Islam, who helped give Islam a bad reputation for violence.  So not only is it important how you present yourself its also important to know what you presenting and how to effectively use aids to make it more effective.
