What makes the Electoral College so Special to the United States of America? Lets smaller towns and communities have a voice in electing the president

My argument has to do with how the Electoral College works, which has been around for over two hundred years. The framers of the Constitution had to think of a good way to elect the president of the United States. After working hard they came up with the Electoral College instead of direct popular vote. There are many critics out there that believe this is the wrong way to elect the president. They believe that the person who has the most votes should become president. I see what they are saying but when you take the time to understand the Electoral College people would like it. First it helps smaller cities and towns have a voice. Presidential candidates must campaign everywhere to win votes. They are forced to go to the small towns and win that state instead of only going to be cites. When it comes to recounts it would be a nightmare trying to recount a direct vote. The Bush vs. Gore 2000 election proved a recount is not an easy thing to do. The constitution also ruled a recount of a presidential election unconstitutional.

Game Over! Scary secrets on video game addiction and its affects and your brain and social life. Skeptical? Not for long.
My argumentative essay is about; despite the fact that there is no scientific proof backing it yet I believe video game addiction is in fact a disease. It can be proven to be just as addicting as gambling, drugs, and alcohol. There are two things that help video games be addicting. There is the physical and chemical aspect. The physical aspect is the game play itself. It uses harder levels and different rewards to ensure that you stick around and play. And also now with live online game play, you can play against other people. So gamers with less than stellar social lives are more aptd to stay in and converse with those friends rather than going out and meeting people. The other addicting component is the chemical side. When you play, your brain makes more and more levels of dopamine, the chemical in your brain that stimulates pleasure. So the more you play, the more dopamine is created, the happier you are, the more you want to play. It’s just like any other substance.
Marijuana: Good or Bad?
The issue of legalizing marijuana has been prevalent among the United States population today. I am arguing that it should be legalized, but under certain conditions. This drug is as potent as cigarettes and they’re legalized. It’s more likely to get addicted to alcohol than it is marijuana. It’s very rare to overdose on this drug as well. Street drug-related crime is getting to be completely ludicrous. It’s more out of hand today than it ever has been. Marijuana is one of the biggest illegal drugs sold on the street and if it were legalized, a lot of the crime rates would decrease. It enables the government to step in and help those who need it. The price of the drug would go down because it’s already so expensive to sell, produce, grow it, etc. Violence tends to ensue when a drug deal goes wrong, this would also decrease because the government would be able to step in. Marijuana isn’t linked to causing cancer, but it is for helping it. It gives off bad health risks in the long run, if used more than usual, but that’s like any other item that’s consumed irregularly.
Man the NCAA is doing us dirty by not paying us its all fun and games until u behind closed doors and good gone bad
My argument is that college athletes should get paid for their sport. We put in a lot of hours of week bring money to the school and give the people who pay for school a reason to come here. Injuries happen almost every day some are season ending and our insurance may have to pay for it I don’t think that’s right. People think college sports is all fun and game really when it’s a business if we don’t win the program isn’t happy new athletes are not going to commit to the school and coaches will be fired. Coaches act like they care this and that but if a bigger coaching opportunity showed they would leave in a heart beat. I think paying college athletes would make all the things that don’t matter away everybody will be happy players and coaches cause at the end of the day money is the root to all evil
Being African American just takes a little more hard work than the usual, but with some help, we can become a greater people
For my argumentative essay I’m arguing on the fact that we should continue to keep and up hold affirmative action. It has been around for so many years and has helped many African Americans achieve their personal goals in life. Some people believe that in the next twenty to thirty years that it will be gone, but I believe that if they take affirmative action away, it would be too soon, because yes, the African American culture has improved by it, but it’s only been a handful of people that have gained success. In order for blacks to continue to strive in life and become a better people, some of us do need affirmative action to help give us that extra boost in life, like people who aren’t able to receive efficient education because of their living or family situations.
Is the television your children are watching making them stupider? #comeonnow #changethechannel
For my argument I am focusing on the negative effects of television on the young and the way it affects their learning abilities as they grow up. In many of the articles I have read, it was clear that the way our television is presented to us now a day is not beneficial to our brains. It is full of nonsense information that is not only slowing down our learning capabilities but actually making us less likely to learn. Shows like little Einstein, created to help children learn faster and get a head start in life, are actually hurting the children’s abilities to learn and are pushing them behind in classes. Though television has not always been negative influence to us, it seems that as time goes on, the shows dumb down and we are being hurt by the aftermath.
Are you tired of sitting alone in your dorm room with no friends to hang out with? Get involved on campus to make new friends!
My argument deals with reasons why it is important for college students to get involved on campus. Students need to make the most of their college experience and meet new people that will make them want to stay on campus. Not having friends on campus and having a lot of spare time will force students to want to leave and go home, which will end up in them moving back home and commuting to a school closer to home. Since college is a new experience for everybody and can be quite overwhelming, it is important for students to get involved in organizations that they are passionate about and care deeply about. Getting involved in these groups will connect students with other people that share the same interests as them. Sharing common interests with other students in certain organizations can unite students with one another and can create friendships that will last a lifetime
Stop complaining about how awful your life is, and grow up so you can realize that people are dying while you are crying.

My paper is about poverty in the United States. In the paper, I discussed the definition of poverty, the history of poverty, and the different kinds of poverty. My paper argued the fact that people in the United States are not nearly as poor as the people in third-world countries. These people are thankful to have a roof over their heads and water to drink, as opposed to the people in the United States complaining that they only got one small gift for Christmas. The difference between poverty in the United States in comparison to the third-world countries is obviously huge. I definitely think more focus should be put toward the poverty going on in third-world countries, instead of people always worrying about what goes on in the United States. People in third-world countries should be given at least an equal amount of help to what the people in the United States receive.
Suburbia killed the healthy community: the car related effects of urban sprawl are having a negative impact on public health.
While urban sprawl has allowed some people to have a better life style away from the cities , it has also made the car a dominant influence on public health. Communities have been developed around the use of vehicles as the main mode of transportation and which has caused numerous health problems and has made any benefits of urban sprawl worthless. Because communities are planned around the car, other modes of transportation have become useless as it is dangerous to attempt to walk or bike on roads without sidewalks to destinations which are miles away. The dependence on the car has lead to other health problems such as higher obesity rates, lung related health problems due to pollution such as asthma, and mental health problems such as stress, anxiety, and the feeling of isolation.

Grade School-High school bullying has many negative effects on a student and can help be lessened with the help of parent/school faculty intervention.

My paper is focused on grade school through high school bullying, why it’s wrong and what can be done to help lessen it. In my paper I talk about many aspects of school bullying and the effects it can have on the student being bullied. Bullying can leave a student feeling frightened, alone and ashamed to say the least. In some cases, bullying can even lead to suicide. Jayme Rodeymeyer’s story is used for my opening my paper as an attention grabber. Jayme hung himself outside his home during the first half of his freshman year. In the second half of my paper, I talk about what needs to be done about it. These things include parent and teacher/faculty intervention. I used a lot of sources that I agreed with in my paper. For example, I agree that teacher and faculty members should implement anti bullying policies. Sometimes I disagree with what some of my sources claim. For example, I don’t think enough is being done to help the cause of bullying in schools.
Found a straight guy talking about cause of homosexuality, trying to give it a biological bend #thatsabravedude #goodluck
My argument is that homosexuality is biological. Each side of the argument has strong research and equally strong support. I think its biological because I would be dumb founded to believe people choose to be gay, to set themselves aside from society and be ridiculed and persecuted to no end.
I also have some hard scientific studies to back up my belief. One such study is a twin study. The study looked at a number of twins and found that if one twin was gay, that there was an increased chance that the other was also gay. However, the number of both twins being homosexual was more than doubled when they were identical rather than fraternal. Why does this mater? Because their DNA would be much closer in identical twins than fraternal. It also takes into account where a homosexual son is adopted into the family. In this case, there is only a 5percent chance that another child is gay.
I do not get it. If you knew something would shorten your life, why would you do it? #smh #peoplethesedays
Do you go in door tanning? It destroys your health at a slow pace. Obviously, the biggest risk with using tanning beds is skin cancer. Yet, all these young women still pay hundreds of dollars to continue to go. It is a proven fact: the sun’s UV rays are life threating. So why are these women and men putting their life at such a great risk, especially when they know the consequences? For most of them it is for the simple fact; they want to appear more attractive. They are addicted to tanning to improve their self-presences. Or they are addicted to the relaxation and the warm escape from their demanding daily lives. For whatever reason people go tanning, it is harmful and I believe it is not worth shorting your life span for.
Your boss makes millions of dollars because of your hard work and you don’t get any of that money. Now is that fair?
I’m arguing for why college athletes should be paid. My main reason is that colleges make so much money off of them and their likeness that they deserve to be paid. The NCAA sells jerseys of the players and EA Sports uses their likenesses in video games. Both make millions of dollars because of how well the athletes perform. CBS just signed a deal with the NCAA to broadcast March Madness for the next 13 years. The contract is worth well over 10 billion dollars. It’s because of these athletes hard work and sacrifice that this contract is possible. It doesn’t seem right that a college can make so much money off of their student athletes while, in some cases, the athletes themselves go hungry.

Being protected no matter what age you are, from city to city from one enforcer to the next; the purpose of curfew.

Should teens have a curfew enforced by the law? Many people have different opinions about this. Some people say no because the parents should be watching the kids and it is their duty to make sure that their kids are being safe. Others think that some parents cannot handle that kind or responsibility. I feel as if there should be a law to make curfew a law. I feel it should be different from city to city. Also it is important that each age group has a different curfew hour. It is not fair to give an 18 year old the same time as a 12 year old. I feel as if they should have this law, but not be extremely strict to enforce it. You would not want a teen around the neighbor looking suspicious and not be able to stop them. With the curfew law if someone is out that late you would be able to stop him or her, and make sure what he or she are doing is legal. After a certain hour it does become suspicious when people are out. With curfew being enforced it will cause more of a safety effort. Laws should make sure that everyone is being protected.
