CH 4: Research

A good way to start research is to pick a topic of interest and propose questions to answer. By asking questions about your text you can move beyond an initial response and into the realm of intellectual discovery. a research log is a goo way to keep track of any research done and side notes. While choosing a topic you should consider the type of research that must be done. Once youve settled on a topic the next step involves exploring your knowledge. Prewriting is a productive way to do this. Graphic brainstorming is a practice that provides writers with a great way to develop topics. then you should construct a concrete plan. First by freewriting usually in a three paragraph model. Then draft the research hypothesis, or a owrking thesis that makes an argumentative claim that youll attempt to prove. Then you formalize your research plan through composing a full-length research proposal.
